moveD on..stOpped by..and movIng on agaiN - it's just the way life worKs

it's one of those days when i feel like i'm dreaming and everything regardless of how i'm feeling just go on as they normally do..they don't stop...they nv do anyway..like when i finished national service and the sudden change back to my life at home was a bit dramatic..no more waking up at five..no more physical trainings and classes...and most importantly no more seeing my buddies in ns everyday..it's the end and you just have to move on...but before i could mentally move on..i missed the life there badly..yes even the boring classes..unless i get myself very busy...i will still think a lot bout it...and now i'm feeling exactly the same...it's been both shockingly fast and long at the same time, a levels...life in coll...and when my friend told me after my last paper on friday that this is finally the formal end of our a levels, i still din absorb the fact cuz i was basically TOO absorbed with the damn DAMN econs paper..but now i really do...i keep thinking things that happened in coll+hostel this one and a half year...the orientation day..the first class( it's sheila's class!) ..prom...class trips...hostel life..but if i were to move out of hostel now the effect of the aftermath will definitely be greater...
coll life has been an interesting journey...know loads of new friends..gain lots academically( obviously ).. try new things..perception much wider now...and i think i've grown up and matured more as well...knowing more about people and how to deal with them...and know how to control my FINANCES better...cuz staying outside really makes u budget better(and a bit more stingy as well hehe)....but one sad thing bout coll was that i din really get to do a lot of sports...thus in that sense i still very much prefer my life in secondary school...

feel like ending the post with something motivating ;-)

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20.00 bill.
In the room of 200, he asked,
"Who would like this $20 bill?"
Hands started going up.
He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this.
He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill.
He then asked,
"Who still wants it?"
Still the hands were up in the air.
Well, he replied,
"What if I do this?"
And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe.
He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty.
"Now, who still wants it?"
Still the hands went into the air.
My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson.
No matter what I did to the money,
you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value.
It was still worth $20.
Many times in our lives,
we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt
by the decisions we make
and the circumstances that come our way.
We feel as though we are worthless.
But no matter what has happened or what will happen,
you will never lose your value.
Dirty or clean,
crumpled or finely creased,
you are still priceless to those who DO LOVE you.
The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know,
but by WHO WE ARE and WHOSE WE ARE.
You are special - Don't EVER forget it.
"Count your blessings, not your problems. "

LoNg dAy

it's been a really really long day today...went to the GIC scholarships interview in malacca which means that i got up around four thirty and left klang at five thirty sharp..slept through most of the journey..and was so freaking tired that i got to grab a choc bar before i went to the hotel..felt so much better after that...god chocolate really does miracle to me man...
It started off with an introductory talk by the personnel dept director himself, which i found very informative...now i can understand why they can accept having freshies from engineering courses working in the financial field...a totally unrelated field from what they've been exposed in uni's...cuz in the end it's how fast the mind works and responds that really matter...especially when we're talking bout the volatile financial mkts...so having other degrees like engineering or computer science is actually an extra edge because you'll have the extra technical knowledge besides the ability to analyse things, which such graduates can do very well....so my advice to ppl still deciding on a course...sciences are still better and take you further..unless you really hate sciences or you are really confident in say, reading law or architecture, taking a science course is arguably the safest ( especially engineering)...
So the whole process of testing the candidates was quite thoroughly done..each will have two interviews and four tests...verbal and numerical tests was horribly done basically...i was guessing most of the time and i couldn't finish so i just ticked the answer randomly( 60 questions in 30 minutes for each paper)...personality test was fine..something like those quizzes u can get online to define yourself..then the last one wasn't really a test...we were to write a paragraph of less than 100 words in 5 minutes about erm...can't remember the exact question but it's something like EQ is more important than IQ....and one new thing that i discover today is that i can actually crap A LOT....haha...and it was fun crapping cuz you won't get all up tight..but of course the rate of crapping and the rate of impressing the interviewer are always negatively correlated...haha...
though tiring it was fun and worth the trip down to malacca...saw my junior from convent pei shan ..then made a couple of new friends...to wrap it all, an interesting day it was.... and now looks like my plan to study m2 tonight will have to wait...a full recharge is badly in need now...chiaoz~~

ToRn bY strING of THORNS

eXACtly like when i revisited the website to confirm my unsuccessful application for jpa scholarship, i did the same for my oxford application...but the subtle difference with this time round is that it hit me way harder...i was much calmer when i reconfirm the news at ucas and did a little thinking why was the news so hard to stomach...and i figured out...at least i think i did....well asean scholarship was some sort of recognition that i can tolerate with insane level of stress and 'kiasusm' and therefore it was my prior goal back in secondary school to be able to blend myself in those scary junior colleges in spore....and failing the application did hit me quite hard as it was a 'long-term goal' and securing a merit award wasn't something i wanted (merit awards only includes the tuition fees)..so moving on...next was jpa scholarships and bank negara scholarships... was quite sad about not getting jpa after the interview but bank negara was some kinda try-luck thingy so it wasn't too bad...then there was jardine scholarships...which i didn't manage to get through to the second interview..but even if i did i wouldn't be entitled to it then cuz i'm not accepted to oxford now...ok..so the main point was why was the latest failure the worst of all? first, because it wasn't a scholarhip...it was an application to a higher education institution and that's very different..so failing that means u can't study there whereas the thing with scholarship is that you may still be able to study there but you will then need to fritter away your own precious funds...secondly, also the more important point, is that i really love maths...and yes you heard me maths, i love you!! sounds like a maniac but that's the plain truth...it really does mean a lot to a person when he/she is being appreciated or recognised for something and that something is truly his/her passion...seriously it really does...without fail i can always find a niche of my own doing maths and not to mention the inherent ecstatic feeling i get when i solved mind-boggling maths questions..i worked hard for maths and i willingly did so and thus the perfect reward for me is to be recognised and to continue my passion in a highly regarded institution for the subject i love...so being rejected by oxford IS really something to me...i am sad of course with the repetitive dashing of hopes but this time round it reveals so palpably how important maths is to me and to excel in it ...well at least now i know that i am so right about choosing a mathematical course...

and yes as usual i'll grieve for sometime and bearing in mind the words of console by my loved ones.......

h3r3 c0m35 0903+1221-0121+02(2x1)

alRight!! here comes the semangat to welcome the new year!! Ok..erm one thing sad about the new year is that january will mark the official end of my a-levels education..sad sad...well it's just a shuffling to another phase of my life..so how has been my 2006? as usual there has been ups and downs...but more of the former and i'm grateful for everything that was in-stored for me to make the ride of 2006 an exciting one..well not that there has been any whackingly prominent changes but there has been some significant ones of which i'm rather pleased with....Spent lotsa time in hostel+college...which very well explains the unbreakable bond i've developed with my closely knit hostemates..i got to know my collegemates better as well...trips of ice skating ain nothing new to us anymore...and i got the chance to do rock-climbing too...special thanks to azraai , ken and duresh..tried sheesha as well..and not forgetting the time when i played catching with coll mates and hostel mates in midvalley after mid-night( it was DAMN fun...sweet memories)...and yes one of great things was that i got to know a few good vb players cuz i played in a new team with completely different members(except fen)for the selangor u-20 open tournament...i was worried at first cuz i have never played with any other members as a team and i was totally unacquainted of their individual styles..and setter can never afford that...but we made a great team and managed to pull through to be in the fourth place, when we did not expect anything...miss them lots and really hope to play with them more often..no offence ya convent kaki's...also i had my first chocolate buffet!! it was just purely heavenly and even the thought of it now gets me drooling..YUM YUM!!

so, it will be long b4 i brace myself for a higher calibre of brain-cracking+tormenting businesses in sept...hence the need to plan well for the first three quarter of my 2007....hmm...so what are my plans..or more importantly, what about my new year resolutions?

without MUCH effort i can list down the things i want (hope) to achieve.. hehe... afterall there's HARDLY any trouble listing HARD resolutions.. but will still try my very best for regrets are one of things i can HARDLY tolerate...so here u go,

1. REally hope to find a great job with good pay ; preferably working in some gift/souvenir shops for a few months so can pick up some crafts ( not for long though, just sufficient for me to learn something new) : might then switch to some other appealing jobs...searching for jobs will start right after i finish my a levels finals.. hehe...

2. Continue my piano lessons; will make sure i take and PASS my grade eight practical this time..and hope to learn to play by ear.. most probably will get the books and learn myself if it's possible...courses are way too pricy.

3. Continue my yoga lessons; will try pilates and other fusions of yoga and pilates as well.

4. Learn some languages ; mum suggested japanese which's quite appealing..always wanted to speak japanese... foreign languages just somehow amaze me..probably cuz i couldn't understand them hehe...

5. Learn to play the most heart warming woodwind instrument- flute.

6. Control my temper. The incorrigibly impatient me shall diminish and hopefully u'll see the new mild-mannered suzhen.(possibly attributable to watching too much of boliling point hehe)

7. Meet up with all my friends more often, especially my klang kaki's cuz i hardly spend any time with 'em all through my a levels as i was in kl most of the time...and will always meet up with my hostelmates as well..coll mates not excluded *wink wink*....

8. Spend more time with mum. Mum was practically alone at home most of the time when i was busy in kl.

SEriously hope i can achieve all of the above...nothing's too tough though...practical resolutions are far more motivating and exciting at the same time...o' right, to all people on globe, have a

SECRETS

"We all have them and I think we're entitled to them. They make our lives more interesting, and when we decide to share them, our relationhip become more meaningful. The place where secrets are kept can also provide a haven, a retreat from the rest of the world, where one's identity can be shaped and reaffirmed, where being alone can bring security and peace. Still, secrets can be an awful burden to bear, especially if some sense of shame is attached to them, even if the source of shame is not the secret holder. Or the allure of our secrets can be too strong, strong enough to make us feel we can't live without them, that we wouldn't even be who we are without them." -bill clinton

To my beloved hostelmates -->sHaleen*SeLina*Becca*NAbiLa

without a doubt it was secrets that brought us closer,
but being truthful and fun loving all the time were the charms that tied our hearts together. cheers ;-)

the day of guy fawkes failure * guy fawkes night * bonfire night * fireworks night

A popular British rhyme is often quoted on Guy Fawkes Night, in memory of the Gunpowder Plot:
Remember, remember, the 5th of November
The Gunpowder Treason and plot ;
I know of no reason why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes,
'Twas his intent.
To blow up the King and the Parliament.
Three score barrels of powder below.
Poor old England to overthrow.
By God's providence he was catch'd,
With a dark lantern and burning match
Holloa boys, Holloa boys, let the bells ring
Holloa boys, Holloa boys, God save the King!
Hip hip Hoorah !
Hip hip Hoorah !
A penny loaf to feed ol'Pope,
A farthing cheese to choke him.
A pint of beer to rinse it down,
A faggot of sticks to burn him.
Burn him in a tub of tar,'
Burn him like a blazing star.
Burn his body from his head,
Then we'll say: ol'Pope is dead.

* the trip to johor was great, thousand thanks to bila and her family...and it's the first time i got duit raya!! food was great as well, bila's mum literally stuffed us as much as she could....

watched two movies this week..open season was disappointing...sad..am looking forward to happy feet...afterall penguins are cute so even if the animation does not turn out to be good it wont be too bad...thanks to the cutey penguins...the prestige was awesome...one of the good movies which seem to be a rarity nowadays...christopher nolan was really a genius in manipulating the plots..turning a normal story to one which offers so much of suspense..and the style of delivering is simply superb...one of the jig-saw puzzle type of movie...seriously love it....christian bale's good as well...a real brash....and yes...the stunning scarlette johanson is forever lovely and riveting ;-) one of the must watch.....

a quotidiant one

haven't blogged for two months now...and thanks to deeparaya holiday i'm able to take a badly needed break, to online and to do whatever stuffs that the lack of time has been depriving me from all this while...last two months have been relatively busy...stressed out on the preparation for oxford interview...really am thankful to all my friends that have given superb ideas and guidance and support...lucky thing was that the interviewer did not ask any personal questions but just maths and maths and maths...some of which i dithered and i felt nothing but stupid not being able to answer them...however badly the interview went, it's finally over!! and i sort of celebrated the post-interview by spending some time with my hostel mates..played tanglung and candles and ya not to forget those delectable mooncakes!! absolutely in love with the mixed-nuts mooncake...am craving for it even at this moment...haha...wonder if there's any after-festivity-low-priced stocks available in the market now..hmm...
without fail in every long post i'd post my comments on the movies i've seen...so ...the last two months i've seen snakes, the banquet, on the edge, nanny mcphee, the devil wears prada, john tucker must die, rob-b-hood and eight below....so my takes-->

snaKes- a movie that i was practically in a shocked-mode most of the time, cuz snakes lie in my category of pets-of-aversion, along with sharks. The movie was fine overall, though graphic wasn't that good compared to anaconda.

thE baquet- excellently directed, love the setting. A little slow-paced however. Zi Yi escalated to an even higher level of performance.

oN the edge - a very emotional movie. reminds me of infernal affairs. it shows ever clearly that we are not always granted the luxury of choosing and forced to accept the predicament we've been put into, or worse still, to be glad of being in such states.

nanny mcphee - a light watch for people who wants some fairy tale after a hard day ;)

the devil wearS prada - standin ovation for meryl streep!! she's just so stylishly devilish and the way she sends your ego (which has alrealy dwindled to a paucity of basic self confidence the moment she sets her ever small but piercing sharp eyes on you) escalating down to nothing but self-hatred out of imperfections is something awe-inspiring...thanks to her the movie was superb.

john tUcker must die- hmm...the heart-throb from desperate housewives jesse metcalfe was an object to idolize in the movie...the funniest part was when he took estrogen and got all gay...it's amazing that he was willing to drop his man ego and put up a great perfomance of being a little more feminine.

rob-b-hood - something different from jackie chan. he and louis khoo made great parents and without fail the comedy tickled my nerves with some really hilarious scenes. Not to forget it got quite emotional in the end when the perfect matched parents tried to save the ohh-so-charming baby...shed some tears..just like nabila ;-)

Eight below - i kept the best till the last. this will be definitely be on my top ten must watch list ( though i've not started the list hehe). it's just so so good. really evocative and truly heart-felt. it tells so much of dogs, how faithful and how STRONG they are...how the dogs supported each other with their nature instinct. I dare say even those who HATE dogs will enjoy the movie, just give it a shot please....

so, done with the movies...really am in the holiday mood now...been goin out often...most prob will go to my frens' house tomolo for raya...and ya, going down to batu pahat with shaleen to visit my crazee nabila, cant wait!!

din get to wish the hindhus happy deepavali....still..happy deepavali and selamat hari raya to all muslims on globe ;-)

thoughts of idle ponder

aM in the middle of my longest holiday of the year...has been sleeping alot, which is truly the prime manifestation of a real holiday...got my second term exam results last friday...am glad i won't need to fritter away four hundred bugs to resit my accounting paper...

dear sis left for glasgow today at 2 am...thought it would be a quotidiant one like giving her a great hug squashing her out of breath or saying good luck that kinda stuff...instead i just gave her a slight hug and kinda avoided eye contact...dun wanna get myself emotional...which i did when she left...just hate to say goodbye..it's like swishing fast since the last time i went to klia but that was the arrival's...one minute she's happily doing her sudoku, drinking her coffee, watching desperate housewives, the next she's on her way back to the cold gloomy city...i don't even remember saying good luck...so hey if i didn't,sis, here's one huge wish of GOOD GREAT LUCK all the way just from klang...and ya also to dear khers and cl, best of luck for the one year ahead before i next get crazee with you guys...

went for lan class today...and the lecturer brought up some issue and did some work of criticism which i didn't really agree with...she says that she's perfectly cool about polygamy and thus the legal practice of muslims and she's totally against those who get divorce in order to plunge into a new relationship legally....how is it fair to your wives that you actually have to split attention to each of them equally cuz i dont think that husbands that can have that sort of ability are truly devoted to any one of the wives..ya it's true that you granted your first wife a title before moving on to the second but what the heck, if you're truly in love with one woman, i personally dun think that you'll be able to give the second or the third or whom ever other than the first your full self..unless you suffer from a bitterly serious memory loss that you dun even remember knowing who's the first...thus the one you love, or loved, and will therefore be able to engage in any relationship fresh...that being said, if you really dun find yourself as much in love with your spouse as before anymore, i think the justifiably right thing to do is to at least tell him/her and move on with your life with less burden...i am of course not encouraging divorce as there are other issues that needed to be dealt with, primarily children, if there's any, but somehow divorce's a hell lot more appropriate than polygamy, which to me is just a legal way of cheating on your wives...call me old-fashioned..

dear sis caught this few lines fr desperate housewives shown on tv the day when she was cleaning the room, which she found truly heartfelt and i really have to agree with her....

Two women were arguing on the street.

“Susan, all night long I’ve been trying to help you stop being so crabby. And you refused to let me help.” yells the older of the two women. “Why are you being this way? I’m just tryin’ to...to lighten things up!”

“Stop acting like tonight is about helping me. You wanted to go out and have fun and Lamont over there needed a date. So you set up a double date!”

“That’s not true!”

“Yes it is.” Susan sits down on the stairway.

“OK fine. It’s true.” admits the older woman. “I wanted to go out and have fun. But why shouldn’t I? You know how depressed I’ve been over my breakup with Morty.”

“Yeah, I do. And that’s what makes me so crazy. You know ...the difference between you and I is that you could be heartbroken and you can just...move on..” Susan sobs. “And I... I’m just...broken.”

“I know you’re sad.” anger finally dissipates from within the older woman. She wraps her arms around Susan.

“No, mom. I’m not sad. And I’m not crabby. I’m devastated, and you keep acting like all I need is a couple of aspirin.”

Silence.

“Mom, Morty was just...one guy in a series of guys for you. And Mike...he was the one. Why don’t you get that?”

That was so deep....surprisingly from the ever fidgety susan mayer.

Days Of leIsure are Not always nice to savour--> Kaleidoscopic life

Alrite...college started three weeks ago and it's been very noticeably different from last semester..i basically have only 16 hours of lecture per week and have lots of time to kill...surprisingly i kinda miss the good old busy days where i just spent hell lots of time doing maths questions and missing lots of sleep...it's quite an extreme change now that for some days my lecture only starts at two and ends at four...too leisurely paced i would say...i even started going malls on weekdays (like last monday) and do some shopping at hours which i would normally be having lectures...coolness...that's how life's been too good that it's like holiday everyday...however days of leisure such as these do normally culminate in money budgetting problems...cons of shopping-->argH...tell me about it....
watched quite a few movies : Just My Luck, Pirates of the Carribean 2 and the lake house. sO, as usual my takes on these movies....JML was fine for some good laughs and doing some unwinding job i would need after a long day....well the long awaited movie of johnny depp was kinda disapointing..a bit too draggy and it seems like they were just trying too hard to force some sense of humour into any scene possible that it seemed a little too desperate...but i do like the beginning part when depp was mistook as the god by some tribe that he was to be burned as a sacrifice...i wonder what happened to the poor dog...haha....and one more thing, the plots did not progress smooth enough that each plot was just bluntly cut off from one another...and the switch of plots often leave the audience baffled, who turned around in search of other faces contorted with puzzlement just to reassure themselves that they are not the only one not getting grip of the story ( fully at least)...hmm...speak of disapointment....the Lake House..haha....starring my all time favourite Keanu Reeves...still a lovable guy though he's in his forties... a typical slowly paced romance....but this one's quite a catch in that the time element it introduced was quite confusing with lots of flashbacks....really like the idea...somehow the puzzle fits perfectly well by the end of the story....and not to mention the lake house itself is such a beauty...a house made entirely of glass..it's just so cool...but privacy's a thing to abandon as said in the movie.......
my 19th birthday was a good one.....hostel mates decided to pay for my pussy cat dolls beach party ticket...appreciated it...the concert however was quite a disapointment...they put up a very short 45 minutes performance altogether...the live performance wasn't very good and i must say that they were not good at getting the crowd (and not to mention that the crowd was already so D-E-A-D)...so besides that, i had a mini-post concert-birthday surprise from my hostel mates..real sweet of them...then a classmate of mine treated me to a really satisfying meal at strudels, thanks kathik..went to strudels again today to treat some classmates..was quite disheartened when i couldnt have the blueberry strudels..will definitely add that to my must-try list of food....had double celebration with my family and am going to have a late celebration with my fellow good friends back in klang tomorrow....and i just found out something few days ago...according to my mum, i was born on the 1st day of the second month of June following the lunar calendar( apparently 1987 was a leap year with a double month of june)...so basically i will only celebrate my chinese birthday every 20++ years and strictly speaking i am not even one year old now following the lunar calendar..haha...that's great....i can be old yet so young ^.^

Exam's been over like only one week but it 'd already seemed like ages...guess i had a really eventful and busy week then...alrite so wat was i basically busying with?? well the following two days after the last paper was quite an irony in some way...cuz i was busy shoppin for prom which fell on last thursday...shoppin's fun(given that u have some good money in hand to splurge) but if it's like hunting for stuffs under the pressure of seeing the clock ticking menacingly and you had yet lots to look for and the absence of sale's not helping you...you go like...why do ppl love shopping??hahaa...that however only remains a temporary issue....it won't be a crude generalisation that girls forever love shopping...then came thursday...was a real busy day....manage to catch the earliest superman returns at 11.45...wasn't really good though the movie...and my body was aching after the almost three hours long movie....think spiderman's much more interesting...talking bout movies...seriously can't wait to see captain jack sparrow on screen again...just hope that hopes don't always lead to dissapointment... after the movie...went back to hostel and prepared for prom...managed to get some shut eye then....prom was fine...get to see ppl looking their best and snap pics with fellow classmates and friends...performances were mediocre except for the first two performances especially the belly dancing which was really impressive..and the dancing troupe was said to have come from klang...haha....food was satisfactory but wasn't really anything special...after the late night....went back to hostel and started packing for the trip to perhentian....managed to have a little chitchat with becca and shaleen before we swayed subconsciously across the earth-slumberland border and had a sound sleep...and before we really sunk into a good sleep, the ever nettling sound of alarm graced the morning's silence and we have to fight against the sluggishness and hurried ourselves to last minute packing.....reached bus station almost two hours before the ride and the subsequent eight hours of bus ride was a real torment....reached kuala terengganu by five in the afternoon and was so exhausted..but manage to have ais kacang later and becca's parent pampared us with a scrumptious dinner so dat really helped to brighten up the day, or to be more precise, ligthen up the night....hahah....
got up early next morning to catch the 8.30 bus to kuala besut which means we were to endure another two hours of torturing bus ride...never knew the jetty to pulau perhentian is that far from k.terengganu...the speedboat ride from mainland to the island was really a bumpy and fun ride...we got lifted off the seats real high when the boat got to hit some real tough wave....our butt seriously hurted like hell.....and the boat went so fast my cap just flew off into the sea...that was the sad part of the fun part...we were all worn out after the 40 minutes ride but upon reaching our chalet and being warmly welcomed by the owner of the chalet who had prepared lunch for us(the food was just awesome), we felt energetic instantaneously and went snorkelling....dat was fun but tide was kinda high so water weren't as clear as usual...manage to see lots of fishes (nemo and dory)..turtle and corals...went to a few spots and there's this small island famed for its cold spring water where even strangers just splash the cold water to you...that was fun as well..it's like we just played around without even knowing each other's names...after snorkelling went back to our island and spent some leisurely time by the beach....never knew sand makes good bed.. managed to sand-burried one of my friends...haha...and kinda made a sculpture out of it....had one of the most care-free moments in life...
dinner was superb...we were basically spoilt for choice...had barbeque fish, squid, prawn, fried rice, salad and satay....palatte was seriously pampared...had a good sleep after that and before we spent enough time in slumberland again we had to wake up at six to see sunrise....but the sky was too cloudy so we couldn't see a perfect sunrise...snap some shots nevertheless and then went back to sleep before we had our last meal there and left the island at eleven something...
reached kt bout three in the afternoon...had keropok lekor REBUS instead of goreng cuz my throat was already itching...after that went and meet up sharon, one of my best mates in national service..had some good moments even though we crapped as usual....went to beach for a while...took some pics...then had nasi dagang for dinner...it's a speciality in terengganu and it wasn't dissapointing at all...good food, good company, good time.....before we realised, the trip came to an end just like every other thing...so my advice to ppl goin to perhentian(kecil), go for lily chalets...they are so cheap yet with good services....not to forget their good food as well...haha....
Here are some pics of perhentian~~

relieved. RELIEVED. Finally the seem to last ever so long exam's over. Wasn't really overjoyed when i finished the last paper besides screeching a little outside the exam hall. Funny how i was always constantly thinking how elated i would be after the torturous stint of more than a month but when it's really over...the feeling wasn't as great as i thought it would be...but like SOME say, maybe it will take some time to finally let the 'fuh, finally' feeling to sink in. Last paper was ok and when the invigilator said we'd got five more minutes left, even though i was still busy scribbling whatever running across my mind, i was still able to lift a light smirk. RELIEVED. good. NOW i can sleep as much as i could. TIME to redeem my sleeping coupons i have earned so hard for. TIME to weave dreams.

GOoodness me...i couldn't believe my eyes when i saw the date on which i last update my blog...almost a month...well it would be in a number of hours....seriously hate exams...how nice would it be if we'd only have classes all and lectures and discussions but NO EXAMS...i think we will enjoy learning any subject better than way...wonder who came up with the idea of having tests and examinations..true it would be important to gauge where we stand and as a measure of our cognitive level..but if we really love the subject and enjoy learning it ..there should be no such objective assessments afterall i think...
Besides having to mug up for this exams...this pass two weeks have been really great....sister came back last week...had lots to catch up with her.. then later on that week got a real GENUINE surprise from my friends.... a friend of mine apparently made up a story and asked to see me...that really got me worried sick...and that friend later popped out in front of my house with two other friends whom i couldn't believe were standing right in front of me at that moment...thought that they were some sort of apparition i've imagined at first...both of my friends from russia came back almost a month earlier for the summer break...was really surprised and touched by their masterplan of giving everyone a shock of their life....can you imagine even their parents didn't know they were planning to come back earlier since they set foot in russia last year?it was a real good surprise though...luv you guys lots, khers and cl...surprises are fun but giving surprises and seeing it work well is far more rewarding....you really get to see different reactions especially that of those you care about and love....so if your life have been a wee bit boring...some simple surprises for ppl around you might be able to spice it up a bit....haha
and then this week my brother came back...was seriously missing him a lot cuz we rarely talk on phone since he left...felt like i've got a lot to talk to him but those things just evaporated to nowhere when i saw him...so we just had moments of silence..as we always had cuz he's a guy with few words....sometimes it's just so funny how it works.....in the absence of someone that you are really missing...you'll feel like telling them everything that you did or happened around you...every triffle things...and somehow you can just relate those things in some way or another with the things you've done with them before...and when the time comes where you meet again...these things just 'pak'...vanish in a snap of finger and there and then you'll be lost for words...hmmm...guess that's what happens when you really care for them and distance has indeed made your hearts grow fonder of one another and strenghtened the bonds....that however doesn't mean that distance is good or anything....the cons does often outweigh the pros...
watched three movies in the past weeks....first was da vince code....was only mediocre....as i have read part of the book, the movie's was generally better at the later part which i have not read about...so again this movie's kinda to the disadvantage of the book readers..like harry potter...the effects in some part of the movie was quite good though..especially when langdon was trying to break the anagram with his photographic memory and the part when leigh teabing was explaining to sophie about the holy grail using the plasma....damn cool....that's the trademark of the director ron howard..always using that sort of effect...in other movies as well.. like a beautiful mind...the second movie i saw was over the hedge..it was in all quite entertaining and carried an indirect message of ppl maltreating the nature..with all those technology advances driving some animals towards the brink of extinction due to a loss of their own habitat...so it's quite educating as well besides guaranteeing some laughters.....then the third movie....X men....din watch the first two of the trilogy but the third wasn't too hard to follow....it was good...luv all the superpowers of the mutants....wished i've got some of the powers too...hahah...effects was good....but some said there were too much of killing and limited space for character developement...can't comment bout that though.....
so far have finished two papers....still have got six to go...this week will sit for the killer subject-->econs unit 5.....am struggling hard now...will try my best and whack the paper in whatever way i could...ahhaha...
till then ...adieu...

Forgot to mention something in the previous post: the IBF -International Badminton Federation 's gonna stick to the 21 pts system and use it for Beijing 2008 :-( [sighs]
Yesterday was wesak day...and as usual went for prayers at Maha Vihara in Brickfields...then i recalled how i celebrated wesak day last year in ns camp...went to another temple near Selayang...that got me reminisce about some sweet memories back in camp ;-)

Some enlightening info from the net:

The Buddhist flag, first hoisted in 1885 in Sri Lanka, is a symbol of faith and peace used throughout the world to represent the Buddhist faith.

The six colors; Blue (nila), Yellow (pita), Red (lohita), White (odata), Scarlet (manjestha), and the mixture of these six colors (prabaswara) of the flag represent the colors of the aura that emanated from the body of the Buddha when He attained Enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree.

*The Horizontal Stripes represent the races of the world living in harmony and the Vertical Stripes represent eternal world peace. The colors symbolize the perfection of Buddhahood and the Dharma.
*The Blue light that radiated from the Buddha's hair symbolizes the spirit of Universal Compassion for all beings.
*The Yellow light that radiated from the Buddha's epidermis symbolizes the Middle Way which avoids all extremes and brings balance and liberation.
*The Red light that radiated from the Buddha's flesh symbolizes the blessings that the practice of the Buddha's Teaching brings.
*The White light that radiated from the Buddha's bones and teeth symbolizes the purity of the Buddha's Teaching and the liberation it brings.
*The Orange light that radiated from the Buddha's palms, heels and lips symbolizes the unshakable Wisdom of the Buddha's Teaching. The Combination Color symbolizes the universality of the Truth of the Buddha's Teaching. (Burmese Buddhist replaced with Pink.)

Therefore, the overall flag represents that:
Regardless of race, nationality, division or color, all sentient beings possess the potential of Buddhahood.
The six colors are better interpreted as :

1. Blue: signifying the concept of loving kindness and peace in Buddhism (Universal Compassion)
2. Yellow: signifying the Middle Path, that is, the complete absence of form and emptiness

3. Red: signifying achievement, wisdom, virtue, fortune and dignity.

4. White: signifying purity, emancipation, that the Dharma will always exist regardless of time or space.

5. Orange: The essence of Buddhism which is full of wisdom, strength and dignity.

6. The combination of these five colors symbolizes that it is the one and only Truth.

Surprisingly to me, the flag was invented in 1880 by an American journalist, Colonel Henry Steele Olcott back in Sri Langka.

Btw, hope it's not too late to wish all buddhists happy wesak day!

And one more thing to add to the list of things i wish to do that i have posted earlier
--> parasailing!!

Could not post thomas cup finals results as promised..it may seem way too late now...but still, below's the results ;p

CHINA VS DENMARK

Lin Dan bt Peter Gade 21-17, 21-19
Cai Yun/Fu Hai Feng bt Martin Lundgaard/Jens Eriksen
19-21, 21-11, 21-18
Bao Chun Lai bt Kenneth Jonassen 21-12, 12-21, 21-12

Only managed to watch a bit of mens doubles [sighs]...the chinese pair weren't that good, they basically got most points from the danes unforced errors...so wasn't a good match afterall....though Cai Yun played quite a few impressively awkward shots...so that got me thinking about something that the chinese believe in : you move ( attack or whatsoever) only when your opponent(s) doesn't, and you halt once they are in motion. Both parties charging forward will create only bedlam... situations/conditions have to be crystalline so that you can make good observations in order to take the most appropriate actions...so maybe the chinese pair had decided to be as error-free as possible and let the danes' mistakes earn them the marks...hmm...that sounds so " sun tzu "...
Met up with a few of my best buddies last sunday...was very happy to see them after such a long time...updated myself with their most recent conditions and only realised how long it had been since i last sit down and really chit-chatted with them...had real fun though i missed the thomas cup finals due to the gathering..no regrets at all...and two of them who are in russia now are coming back on the 2nd of July...can't wait!!! gonna enjoy to the max after the 26th of June!!

Quite some time has elapsed since i last blogged...so basically what i have in mind during this period of time to be written down might have put on a disappearing act when i try to recollect them...this week has not been quite a quotidiant one....with three mocks on three consecutive days...but it wasn't too bad as they are not economics-related...not so 'wordy-based'... anything numerical is always better....but the fact that the monday after next week-->15-05-2006 will be marking the start of my second external exam in a-levels' is quite intimidating...first paper would be accounting and last paper will be economics which is on the 26 of June....so basically the externals this time stretch right up to almost six weeks...with all the papers quite loosely dispersed...so i am quite satisfied with the timetable...will have enough time for last minute preparing all...but then again...six weeks seemed a wee bit too long...things can never ever be too perfect i guess? and yesterday 's 1.02 am was the century event of 010203040506...which represents the time 01:02:03 on the 4th of May 2006....gathered with some friends...played some games in the middle of the night...was fun...will be something sweet to reminisce about next time....these are just those times that might not seem special at that moment but when you recalled it next time, you will simply smile in quiet nostalgia...thinking those were the times that you wished to go back to ...when those friends are no longer somewhere near you...when we continue with our longer journey in life ..which will inevitably lead to long goodbyes as you will hardly see them again ...these are just those precious moments.... thinking about this just somehow makes me appreciate every moment i spend with my friends now more and more...
Thomas cup 'fever' started last week itself....couldn't really update myself with the results all... and the first thing i did when i reached home today was to check the results and see the live semi-finals...missed the first semi finals between china and indonesia which started at 12 pm today malaysia time...managed to catch up on the semi-finals between fellow malaysians and the danes though i missed the first men singles...was very proud of both our mens doubles...they were simply superb and their fighting spirit was impressive and daunting...salute to them...the first mens doubles must be one of the best doubles i have seen so far...both side played a high quality game....singles on the other hand were very disspointing...hafiz hashim's unforced errors are just "countably infinite"...a term in statistics which means that his errors were to no end but can be simply numbered....really not up to par...and with the veteran wong choong hann resigning due to a ruptured achilles tendon during quater finals, kuan beng hong was the third man singles player to play the crucial role of qualifying malaysia to finals after a 2-2 tie....but he was like...just so DISPIRITED...don't think he's even tryin his best....after all his fellow team mates struggling.....this is so DISPIRITING man....but then again, he might have tried his best....haiz...
below are the semi finals results:-

CHINA VS INDONESIA (3-0)
Lindan bt Taufik Hidayat 21-16, 21-8
Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun bt Alven Yulianto/Luluk Hadiyanto 24-22, 21-17
Bao Chun Lai bt Sony Dwikuncoro 21-17, 24-22

MALAYSIA VS DENMARK (3-2)
Peter Gade bt Lee Chong Wei 21-19, 21-18
Chang Chong Ming/ Koo Kean Keat bt Martin Lundgaard/Jens Eriksen 21-17, 30-28, 6-21
Kenneth Jonassen bt Muhd Hafiz Hashim 20-22, 21-12, 21-17
Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah bt Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen 21-13, 15-21, 21-19
Persson Joachim bt Kuan Beng Hong 21-12, 21-19

and one thing, i seriously don't like the new scoring system.. it's just doesn't make sense that even when the player doesn't get the service he gets to score...makes the excitement much less intense now...really hope they will change the system soon...still 15pts the best....
looking forward to finals now...can't wait to see it....but have to study hard before that so i can really enjoy watching it...must make sure this weekend will be a productive one...will study accounting basically, touch a bit of vectors and perhaps a little of economics(depressing econs!)...
talking about econs...the lecturer's really gettin on my nerves...so irresponsible..she'll just talk and talk but not writting the answers down on board...the problem is that she USED to write down the answers...and now...after she has finished explaining, when we all expect her to do what she used to do, she will just go straight on to the next section, leaving us all blank like kiddos in kindergarden....will really have to join the other group of econ class...seriously think their lecturer's much better...giving extra classes which total up to 26 hours...seriously need that...and it's after my accounting paper...so it will be a perfect last minute brush up for me....
DEAR sister and brother are coming back soon!! can't wait to see them...miss them so much....
it'll be long till my next blogging...but will try to post the Thomas Cup finals results ;p
till then,
au revoir~~

Snap Back to reAL LiFe-->
Have not blogged for some time...been quite occupied with studies all...but a tighter schedule is yet to strike...just have to cross my fingers for things to work real smooth... despite the bustlings, life's been quite enjoyable lately...watch a couple of movies..lucky number slevin, capote and ice age...LNS wasn't too bad...got kinda blur at first but things seem to match well like a jigsaw puzzle in the end... capote...i was quite impressed by Philip Seymour Hoffman...he really made me hate him like hell..that's what actors and actresses would seek for as they would define that as a success in their acting i guess...being able to make people feel really disgusted by such appalling dispositions....the story basically tells how hoffman has tried to develop a real close relationship with a murderer just to do his bloody research for his book (IN COLD BLOOD)...how he faked sympathy trying to save the murderer when all he did was to manipulate the murderer(or his victim)'s real feelings to his own advantage ..damn him....it serves him right that he was badly traumatised by the murderer's eventual execution to the extent of not being able to write any book ever after... ice age 2 was really entertaining and well worth the watch..really enjoyed myself...many has said that the first was better...couldn't really remember the first so can't compare with the sequel....but then again, sequels are usually not as good as the first, with the exception of LOTR and Matrix Trilogy...all were superb....
External exam is less than a month away...i can hear the ominous footsteps nearing now.....
